Note Arp

Purpose

Store an 8-step pitch pattern per arpeggiator row, played back at its own length and position against the live major/minor scale tables. Pick a slot on the LHS overview, then write a pitch from the RHS keyboard.

Interaction

LHS LP. 8×8 overview: rows are arp rows (top = row 8 … bottom = row 1), columns are steps 1–8; lit = within arp length, position colour = playing step. Any LHS press selects that row+step for editing, whatever modifier is held. RHS LP: piano-keyboard editor for the selected row, with the scale-degree overlay marking the anchors in slate-grey across its 4 octaves. P1 and P2 edit state is fully independent.

Shortcuts

LHS: overview / length / presets

Gesture Where Action Modifiers
SHIFT + press (row, col) LP LHS Set that row’s arp length to the pressed column (1–8) immediately shift
Double-tap same cell (≤350 ms, no modifier) LP LHS Set that row’s arp length to the column none
MUTE + press, cols 2–8 LP LHS Load preset arpeggio into all 8 rows of the sequencer: row picks the mode (row 8 UP, then DOUBLE_UP, UP_PEDAL, DOUBLE_UP_PEDAL, DOUB_DOWN_PEDAL, DOWN_PEDAL, DOUBLE_DOWN, row 1 DOWN), column picks the interval (seconds … octaves); the pressed pad flashes lime-yellow for ~1 s mute
Press any cell LP LHS Select that row + step for editing (fires under every modifier) any
MUTE + press, col 1 LP LHS Reset to init, sequencer-wide: write the canonical diatonic cascade to all 8 rows, zero every row’s length, rebuild the overlay. Destructive, no undo mute

RHS: keyboard editor

Gesture Where Action Modifiers
Press a key LP RHS Write the resolved pitch into the selected row’s selected step none
Press position 88 LP RHS Write a rest (no-note sentinel) into the slot none

Whole-view behaviour

Gesture Where Action Modifiers
SHIFT + MUTE / SHIFT + SOLO LP grid No-op: note arp deliberately has no reset/randomise any

Scale mode (major/minor) is global, and changing it from the chord options view keeps your arps: notes you played follow the new scale, notes outside it keep their pitch, rests stay rests, and the keyboard overlay does not move (see Chord options view reference).
